About
With over 35 years of dedicated service to her community, Judge McNeilly’s foundation is built on honor and integrity. Throughout most of her time on the bench, she has been committed to working with the community’s most vulnerable children, striving to improve the situations of broken families in child welfare matters. Every day, she focuses on listening to all parties involved, aiming to address the challenges and issues that many prefer to avoid due to the substantial effort required to restore broken families while ensuring the safety and well-being of children. Leveraging her experience and compassion, Judge McNeilly objectively listens to all sides and applies the law. In addition to handling child welfare: dependency & delinquency cases, she also travels to hear criminal felony cases, RPOs, injunctions, drug court, and family law cases.
Prior to being elected as a Judge, Judge Kathleen McNeilly had a decades-long commitment to community service and practiced in the trial courts throughout her three-decade career. Even before graduating law school in 1987, she devoted a summer to working for a Judge pro bono. Her law school achievements earned her the honor of serving as a federal judicial law clerk upon graduation, a position reserved for only a select few law graduates. As a federal law clerk, she directly assisted federal judges in drafting important legal decisions and opinions.
