Born in Davis, California, and raised in Silver Spring, Maryland, Shannon M. Miller, B.C.S., Esq., made Gainesville, Florida, her home in 1994.
She earned her B.A. from Virginia Polytechnic Institute in 1991 and her J.D. from the University of Maryland Law School in Baltimore. Commissioned into the United States Marine Corps in 1992, she joined The Florida Bar in 1994 and gained admission to the U.S. District Court Southern, Middle, and Northern Districts in 1996. In 2011, she achieved the distinction of becoming a Florida Bar Board Certified Specialist in Elder Law.
She holds memberships in several prestigious organizations, including the Florida Bar, the American Inns of Court, the Elder Law Section of The Florida Bar, the Academy of Florida Elder Law Attorneys, the Eighth Judicial Circuit Bar Association, and the North Central Florida Senior Advocacy Network. Shannon has assumed leadership roles as President of the Florida Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and an Executive of the Elder Law Section.
A sought-after speaker, she frequently addresses audiences at events organized by the National Association of Elder Law Attorneys, Hospice, Florida State Guardianship Association, Florida Ombudsman, the Alzheimer’s Association, and various law enforcement agencies. Shannon has earned certification through the National Network of Estate Planning Attorneys and actively participates in the Life Care Planning Law Firm Association.
