J and D – Why should I donate to OurSeniors.org a not for profit?
Here’s an illustration of a situation handled by OurSeniors.org:
J & D have experienced homelessness for over three years in Daytona Beach. J was attempting to navigate with a wheelchair alongside D and all of his belongings by moving himself with one leg from Ormond Beach along Highway 40 heading westward, aiming to reach Ocala. His destination was Ocala because he wanted to get to Greyhound, which is now branded as Flix, so he could travel north to Indianapolis, Indiana, to reunite with his family because of a health crisis and other challenges.
On a hot day, Julian, our Founder and Executive Director, encountered him struggling on Highway 40 and stopped to offer assistance, noticing someone in a wheelchair with a lovely Pit Bull facing difficulties at the roadside.
In summary, J & D were picked up by our Founder, who provided them with a ride stretching over 75 miles to Ocala. It was revealed during the journey that J had not enjoyed a hot meal in three days and that all his clothes were drenched from living outdoors. J & D not only received warm meals but were also taken to Goodwill and Walmart to collect necessary items before continuing their journey north.
The reservation on Flix was confirmed, and J&D received meals for their journey, with everything organized by OurSeniors.org, including the bus fare. Ultimately, this reflects our commitment to assisting seniors, and you can contribute by donating to the nonprofit 501 c 3 OurSeniors.org.
