Since 1938, the Housing Authority of the City of Daytona Beach (HACDB), a Public Housing Agency, has offered subsidized, income-based housing and homeownership opportunities for qualified low-income families, the elderly, and persons with disabilities in Daytona Beach FL. The Housing Authority of the City of Daytona Beach manages several housing programs including Public Housing, HCV (Housing Choice Vouchers, previously Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers), both funded by the federal Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Other housing programs offered include VASH (for veterans) in conjunction with the VA, Workforce Housing, Low Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC) housing and RAD (Rental Assistance Demonstration) program, Neighborhood Networks, community partners, a resident council and resident advisory board. In 2021, HACDB received a grant from HUD to develop the Older Adult Home Modification Program.
The Older Adult Home Modification program (OAHMP) is a grant-funded program that offers free home safety assessments and free home safety modifications for homeowners aged 62 years and older that reside in Daytona Beach (restricted to 32114 and some 32117 locations). Home safety assessments are completed by the licensed OAHMP Occupational Therapist and home safety modifications are completed by a licensed, insured contractor; all of these activities are coordinated by the OAHMP, in collaboration with the homeowner.
