Celebrating National Senior Month & Happy Mother’s Day to all the Moms!

We Love Our Seniors Slider

Hi There OurSeniors Vendors, Readers, Subscribers, and Donors

Every day is a good day to show the respect that you have for seniors and if you didn’t already know it, there’s an entire month dedicated to doing exactly that! May is known as ” Senior Citizens Month” but now….it’s been changed to “Older Americans Month” and while this month of recognition has gone through a name change, it still represents the same thing; to “encourage and recognize the countless contributions that older adults make in our communities”. What’s even better is that this recognition month, established by the U.S. Administration for Community Living (ACL) even has a theme.

Let’s lay everything out so that you’re prepared to celebrate more of May and if you thought that was all, you’re actually in for an additional treat….literally.

May Means That It’s National Senior Month!

Older Americans Month has been observed since 1963 when President John F. Kennedy designated May as Senior Citizens Month. It’s all about recognizing seniors….especially those that are closest to you. Older Americans have played a vital role in shaping our society and culture, and they continue to make significant contributions to their communities.

With that, you should know the theme of OAM for 2023! “It’s Aging Unbound”. This theme was created to encourage and inspire older Americans to challenge how they currently think about aging. In other words, age isn’t a restriction….it’s just a part of life and shouldn’t hold you back from anything.

No matter how you decide to express your gratitude for seniors, keep in mind that the OurSeniors team is dedicated to serving seniors, so you can always look to us for the latest news and engaging events in Florida communities.

Mother’s Day Is Near-Happy Mother’s Day to all the Moms out there!

Mother’s Day is just around the corner, and it’s the perfect time to show your appreciation for that special person in your life. It’s a day dedicated to celebrating the maternal figures who have nurtured, loved, and supported us throughout our lives. Whether it’s your own mother, grandmother, or a special mother figure, this is the time to thank them for everything they’ve done for you. It’s also a time for remembrance of that type of figure in your life. As the holiday nears, there are a few unique ways that you can celebrate it. If you’re far away from your mother or mother figure, schedule a virtual cooking class with a professional chef, or send them something special.

If you’re close by, consider creating a personalized playlist of her favorite songs and plan a road trip with her favorite destinations along the way, plan a special spa day, or simply cook one of her favorite dishes and create a compilation of old-school home videos. Whatever you choose to do, make sure it comes from the heart and shows just how much you care.
