OurSeniors Vendors, Readers, Subscribers, and Donors…Let’s Talk Independence
We know that you’re brimming with excitement as we approach a very special and universally well-known day in American history—Independence Day! You’ve probably already prepared for your upcoming cookouts, shopped for decor in patriotic colors, and bought flags in bulk but while we know the 4th of July is a popular day for the country, we want to make sure that you remember the true meaning of it.
The 4th is about more than barbecues, fireworks, parades, and baking cakes that look like our great flag. It signifies what happened on July 4, 1776…the passage of the Declaration of Independence by the Continental Congress.
This day represents separating the 13 North American colonies from Great Britain and celebrates the signing of the declaration that made this separation real. The declaration wasn’t signed on the 4th though. 12 out of 13 colonies voted in favor of the motion for independence made by Richard Henry Lee. The declaration itself was actually signed on August 2, 1776, and because of this fact, you might be asking yourself…why exactly do we celebrate this on the 4th? The reason that we do is because the 4th is when we ‘adopted’ the Declaration of Independence and since then the U.S. has been an independent nation.
Well, It’s Official!
You’ve heard correctly…the ‘Summer 2024’ edition of OurSeniors Magazine is officially released and we want to celebrate our team’s hard work with you. We put a lot of effort into curating the perfect pages for this issue and our reward is when our readers enjoy what we take to print and what we release digitally. We’re sure that you already know this but you have the option to get both, a print and digital copy. The OurSeniors website allows you to easily view and share your favorite editions and what’s better is that you can stay on top of what we’re planning and what we release.
As always, we want to extend an open invitation for all of our readers and supporters to join us for our Lunch/Brunch and Learn events, our fundraisers, and events that our team gets excited about. What we hope to provide for seniors, we also want all of those involved with our initiative to have the same feeling of accomplishment, involvement, and joy that we do.
Also, we want to remind you that while you’re hosting family and friends and shopping for fireworks to honor the brave men and women who dedicated their lives to shaping the great nation we call home. Take a moment to remember their valor and express the gratitude you have for the sacrifices that many others have made for us today.
