Hi There OurSeniors Vendors, Readers, Subscribers, and Donors
We’ve all heard the phrase, “Spring is in the air”. It often represents longer days, warmer temperatures, more to do outside, and the start of the next season’s to-do list. For the OurSeniors team, it often marks the time of the release of the spring edition of the magazine, fundraising opportunities, the kickoff for upcoming events, and the chance to give the public a way to stay in tune with seniors in the community and the things that they need most.
Spring Is in the Air
Were you already aware of the release of the Spring edition of the OurSeniors magazine? If you didn’t already know, you’re in for a real treat. We provide much more than helpful content and fun activities. You will be able to find a full hub of resources and community partners that have similar interests in what the community actually needs. If you also missed it, you can find OurSeniors magazine in not only both print and digital but English and Spanish as well. We wanted to increase the accessibility of this resource to make it possible to enjoy it in a variety of ways that could cater to anyone regardless of primary language or preference between print and digital.
What you will notice is that we left no corner unturned and have provided readers with activities that would give them an entire spring “to enjoy” list, information to help guide you through a variety of interests and recognition of seniors and staple businesses throughout the community. It’s a must-have read for the start of spring and it’s now available.
We Would Like to Invite You….
The new edition of the magazine isn’t all that we’re excited about. We wanted to remind all OurSeniors supporters about the upcoming Lunch and Learn event on May 19, 2023, from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm, at D.B. Pickles. We will have a guest speaker, Joe Kochersperger who will be talking about “Your Life, Your Legacy”. We’re excited about this topic and the discussions that will be had and we want to encourage you to mark your calendars and come with any questions that you have.
Reflecting on the Current State of the Real Estate Market
Like any housing market, Florida’s presents fluctuating challenges for buyers. As of April 1, 2023, it’s considered to be a seller’s market and that’s mainly due to the high demand for property throughout the state. This is what is causing more homes to sell in higher ranges. While it’s technically a seller’s market, there is a bit more wiggle room for buyers to act on their interest in owning a home. On average, home sale prices have dropped below $300,000.
It might be a concern that sales volume has dropped and that interest rates are high but currently if you’re looking into a 30-year fixed rate for mortgages, you’re probably in luck. The average rate is remaining steady at around 6% and while the home value in Florida has grown by at least 11%, it’s a great time for new buyers or even repeat buyers to enter the market. The OurSeniors team works hard every day to strengthen ties within the community and to make a variety of resources available to not only seniors but all of those that support what we do. The businesses that make up a community are what keep it together and that’s something that we enjoy putting emphasis on as we introduce new donors, vendors, and team members. We encourage you to stay up to date with new introductions, news, and other announcements by checking the out OurSeniors upcoming events calendar.
