Hello to all OurSeniors Readers, Subscribers, and Donors… we greet you as we embark on another year!
A fresh year brings exciting prospects for OurSeniors. The past year, 2024, has been a period of growth and learning for everyone. As we step into this new chapter, we aim to inspire greater community engagement, raise public consciousness, assist those in need, and advocate for those whose voices deserve to be heard.
Our mission is to supply essentials to seniors and guarantee that the elderly within our communities always have support. Additionally, we strive to keep our supporters informed with resources that enable them to feel more connected to our mission.
This month, we will be emphasizing upcoming holidays and significant observances, highlighting the importance of our work, and encouraging unity through community service and support initiatives.
January: A Month of Celebration, Recognition, and Awareness
Every month brings new celebrations and opportunities to spotlight various causes and influential figures. It’s a chance to heighten awareness about important individuals, initiatives, and concepts.
January is one of those months with several notable days, including Martin Luther King Jr. Day, which is observed this year on January 20th, 2025. We commemorate the birthday of a significant leader in the Civil Rights Movement.
We express gratitude for such a remarkable individual who championed equality nationwide and displayed immense courage for those needing support. This designated day of community service, which is also a federal holiday, serves to unite people. It celebrates the legacy, teachings, and principles of Martin Luther King Jr., while educating others on the messages he wished to convey to all Americans. This year, we will also witness on the same day, the Presidential Inauguration Day at noon in Washington, DC, marking the swearing-in of the 47th President.
January is additionally a time when many begin preparations for the Lunar New Year on February 1st, and it is a month of recognition, being designated as;
– National Blood Donor Month
– Poverty Awareness Month
– Cervical Health Awareness Month
– Mental Wellness Month
