June is full of opportunities for recognition, but one day really stands out this month: Father’s Day. This month is when we make an extra effort to show our love and appreciation for the father figures in our lives. It’s also a time packed with activities that can fill your calendar and bring positive changes to your life or the lives of those around you. Let’s explore what you can look forward to this month.
Father’s Day…a Wonderful Day
In the United States, Father’s Day is celebrated on the third Sunday of June, and the main goal is exactly what it sounds like—it’s a day to honor fathers. The holiday was started by Sonora Smart Dodd from Spokane, Washington, whose dad was a Civil War veteran. After their mother passed away during childbirth, her father raised her and her five siblings. It’s important to remember that this day is not just for biological dads; it celebrates all types of fathers. This includes father figures and the special bonds they have with their children or those they care for. It doesn’t even have to be your own father or father figure.
The idea is to celebrate all fathers on this day, to recognize and thank them for the love, guidance, and support they give, and to show that their contributions are always remembered. June provides a special day to honor the important role that fathers play in shaping the lives of their children, families, and others around them, and the positive influence they have on those they touch.
