Does God Want You Healed?

One of the biggest reasons people struggle to believe in healing is because they’re unsure if it’s God’s will to heal everyone, every time. Why? I believe it’s a way of coping when they don’t see healing manifest immediately.

Anyone who has prayed for the sick hasn’t seen every person healed right away. That’s not because it isn’t God’s will—it’s because the world is flooded with unbelief. People have been taught doctrines that make them passive, and they settle for sickness instead of standing on God’s promises.

A Father’s Struggle with God’s Will

I remember ministering at a church years ago and saying that it was always God’s will to heal. A man there had a twelve-year-old daughter who was quadriplegic and completely dependent on her parents. In his pain, this father had come to believe that God made her that way for a reason.

After the service, he confronted me. “Are you saying it’s God’s will for her to be well?” he demanded. “God made her this way.” I shared scripture with him, but we weren’t getting anywhere.

Finally, I asked him a question that changed everything: “What kind of dad are you to want your daughter to be like this? Why would you want her to be in a wheelchair—unable to talk, unable to think, and need her diapers changed at twelve years old?”

If his daughter hadn’t been between us, he might have hit me. “How dare you say that?” he shouted. “I love my daughter! I would do anything for her. If I could, I would trade places with her!”

Then I said, “And you think God loves her less than you do?”

He admitted he would do anything to see his daughter well, yet he believed that God—who is love—wanted her to stay in that condition. Jesus said in Luke 11:11 and 13,

If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? . . . If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give . . .

If we desire healing for our loved ones, how much more does our heavenly Father want us whole?

The Truth About Healing

Many have been taught that sometimes God says yes, and sometimes He says no. But that’s not what Scripture says.

For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.

2 Corinthians 1:20

God already said yes to healing. First Peter 2:24 says, “By whose stripes ye were healed.” So, why do people struggle to receive?

For some, it’s a way to avoid the responsibility of faith. They can blame God for sickness and never have to step out and believe. But faith requires persistence and a refusal to settle for less than God’s best.

Too often, people wait for a crisis to start believing. But faith isn’t meant to be a last resort—it’s meant to be a lifestyle.

Jesus Revealed the Father’s Will

Hebrews 1:3 says that Jesus is the “express image” of God—He perfectly represented the Father in everything He did. John 5:19 and 8:28 say that Jesus did nothing apart from God. Therefore, God cannot be the source of sickness, because Jesus never put sickness on anyone.

There’s not a single instance in the Gospels where Jesus refused to heal someone. Instead, Scripture records seventeen times where He healed every sick person present. Jesus revealed that God’s will is for everyone to be healed! The question is, will you believe it?
